Database, database, database!


Year ago the mantra was location, location, location! These days it’s database, database, database! However, if you’re going to fly in business it pays to build the right kind of database. You should concentrate on collecting intelligence i.e. full data, Name, street address, phone number and email addresses. This kind of data allows you to follow up in very concievable way, not just email. The major point however, is that you want to build a database of buyers of your product, (your own fan club) not just people who subscribe to freebies, newsletters and the like. Once you have built your database of buyers make sure you look after your customers, because if you do, they will be with you in years to come. This is something the big banks and telephone companies have never learned and they will live to regret it.
